>>>follow along & see more here!<<<I think as part of this monthly series, which will sometimes be late (because that's just me), I'll also keep you updated on the current status of my calendar like I did here and here... in case you would like to know. As of this very moment, my calendar says... July! Big shocker, I know. Anyways, I'm going to skip over the part where I apologize for being absent from this space because life, work, my brain (chose one) has been so crazy lately. I would however like to point out that this year by far takes the cake in least amount of blog posts ever! Total, it's been a whopping 13 and nothing for the month of April, my birthday month. It's not that I'm over it all, because I'm not... I just really misjudged how juggling a full time job with crazy long hours and relocating would affect it all. Seriously though, my job is getting in the way of my bloging! Pretty much your safest bet for seeing what's going on in my life (if you care) is to stalk me on instagram because that is one creative outlet I refuse to let go of!
So July... what can I say except that you came in a whirlwind of apple pies, salty beach air, and surprise visits that ended bittersweet, just as fast as they had started. My rendition of apple pie was a major hit at work this year which I not so secretly rejoiced in. Who knew a few cut out crust stars could be so impressive?! The long weekend was spent at the beach (duh) with my hair soaking up as much salt as it could possibly manage for that ultimate beach hair look... because who needs store bought product when you've got the real deal at your footstep. I explored L.A. further and fell in love these local spots- Superba Snack Bar (which has the coolest wallpaper ever!), the Ace Hotel (swanky but in a non threatening sort of way), and The Classic Coffee (has a succulent was, enough said). Then there was the last minute, sort of surprise but not really visit from my mama and that was all the more reason to play tourist in this nutty city I am calling home. It also happened to be her first visit out here and so I made sure to show her a good time. We went hiking at Runyon Canyon and she made me so proud! Sometimes I think my mama is in better shape than me because she carried on like a trooper and didn't even get sore after... unlike someone else that was limping awkwardly after (it was me). I was pleased with myself for sticking a run dem crew running man sticker on a sign atop of the mountain. We had drinks at the Hotel Erwin roof top bar so she could properly soak in one of the prettiest sunsets ever! I also surprised her with a trip to the Rose Story Farm which nearly made her cry from sheer happiness (score!) She was in heaven and I would highly recommend the tour to anyone in the area. We spent the day strolling the most fragrant rose gardens and hubs did not die of allergies so I would say it was a successful trip all around. We stopped in at The Getty Center for more garden wandering and some art. And ended her trip with a walk along the Venice canals which was just so good for the soul. I'll be sharing more details soon on the whole visit for those interested. It was such a good time showing my mama around and I might have shed a tear or two saying goodbye, but I know she'll be back soon. Lastly, I tried to kick start my fitness routine again by finally signing up to anti-gravity yoga at Believe Fitness Studio and you guys, it's just as amazing as I had remembered! I ran along the beach for the first time since moving out here... over a year ago... and it was AMAZING! I'm slightly embarrassed that I didn't get around to it sooner and think this might just be what I need to kick-start my running passion again. I'll keep you all posted. I also dragged hubs all around downtown on my date (more on that later) and may have over done it with the walking in the heat because he has sworn off that part of L.A. Whoops! I'm sure I can make him come around though. All in all, it was a busy month I must say but I loved every minute of it. Hope your month was as jam packed with fun memories as mine was.
***Today I am thankful for the whirlwind that was July... she left me exhausted but happy!***
