Big Black Delta...

10.08.2013

One of my favorite experiences from this past summer was getting to check out some amazing live gigs at the Getty Center. Finishing up the Saturdays Off the 405 series was Big Black Delta, a new one for both hubs and I but definitely one too tuck into the playlist. Listening to self described synthpop with a hint of electronic to the background of the Getty's breathtaking grounds made for an incredible first listening experience. Neon lighting bounced off the textured walls almost in sync to the music, making it easy to get lost in the moment. One thing that really caught my eye was the so perfectly synchronized drumming of the two drummers... one being a girl! Not to knock on the guy's performance, but she totally stole the show with her hair flicking bad ass moves. It just doesn't get any hotter than a female drummer and I may have walked away with a small girl crush... along with the newly acquired desire to learn how to smash out the beats. I felt like they had a good mix of chilled out songs sprinkled with more poppy injections here and there. Money Rain Down has quickly become a new favorite of mine for obvious reasons... and that lead singer, man can he dance! Looking around through the crowd I was pleasantly surprised at how different everyone was from each other. I couldn't pinpoint a specific fan type and instead was greeted by everyone from the family outing with little children, to the young die hard fans breaking it down in front of the stage. The cutest fan though was probably this little old man that was just having the time of his life dancing around by himself until a group of young girl's adopted him in to their circle of boogieing. I nudged hubs and whispered -"Man, what a charmer with the ladies. That will be you in 40 years time" as I pointed the old man out. To which he replied with a massive grin "I can only hope!" I would highly recommend checking these guys out live if you're into electronic-poppy tunes. I would say it was the perfect date night for hubs and I... fueling the desire to break free from our jobs and start a band together. Maybe after I learn the drums...
